Antique jade rings
By admin • Apr 26th, 2008 • Category: JadesThere are two kinds of antique jade rings in China:
The first one is the similar jade rings just the same as we use today. In Shang Dynasty (1,600 B.C.-1,000 B.C.), Chinese began to use rings. Most of the early rings were made with copper, and a fraction of them were jade rings. At that time Chinese called them Promise Rings.
Jade rings became popular since Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasty (221 B.C. - 220 A.D.), and used for wedding, promise, and engagement.
These are two antique jade rings made in Qing Dynasty (1644 A.D. – 1911 A.D.). The first one was made by red jade, and the second one was made by Maan Jade.
The second kind of antique jade rings is Banzhi. Jade Banzhi is a kind of jade rings put on people's thumb. At the beginning, Chinese put it as fingerstall. Soon it became a symbol for their authority.
